Blink Camera Not Detecting Motion

Common Causes

• Motion sensitivity is set too low for the camera's location
• Motion zones exclude the area where movement happens
• The camera faces a window or heat source that confuses the PIR sensor
• The battery is low, so the camera stops arming the motion sensor to save power
• The camera is tilted or mounted so movement passes below or behind its detection area

Step-by-Step Fix

   Increase motion sensitivity

   In the Blink app, open the camera, tap Motion Settings, and raise Motion Sensitivity. If it's already high, move it down and back up — some Blink cameras need the slider nudged to refresh the setting.

   Check and redraw the motion zones

   Motion zones override sensitivity. If the zone grid doesn't cover the walkway or driveway, the camera ignores activity there. Tap Motion Zones in the app and expand the active blocks to cover the area.

   Reposition the camera

   PIR sensors detect movement across the field, not toward it. Mount the camera so people walk ACROSS its view, not straight at it, and keep it away from windows (glass blocks IR) and vents (heat triggers false or missed detections).

   Replace the batteries

   Blink cameras prioritize battery life and disable motion detection as power drops. If the app shows low battery or clips are only captured when you manually arm, put in fresh lithium AA batteries.

   Reboot the camera from the app

   In the app, open the camera, tap Device Settings, then Reboot Device. This clears stuck firmware states where the sensor stopped arming.
